Privacy Policy
How Crypto Compass News collects, uses, and protects information about visitors. GDPR and CCPA rights, cookie practices, and contact.
This Privacy Policy describes what information Crypto Compass News ("we", "our") collects when you use our website, how we use it, and the choices you have. We aim for clear, plain-English explanations rather than legalese. If you have questions about anything below, contact us at [email protected].
This policy is effective as of May 11, 2026 and was last updated on the same date. We may update it as our practices change; we will note the update date here and, for material changes, post a notice on the homepage.
Information we collect
We collect three categories of information:
- Information you provide — Email addresses if you subscribe to newsletters (we currently do not run a newsletter, but the form exists for future use), feedback you send to our team, and any account information for future subscription products.
- Automatic information — IP address, browser type, operating system, referring URL, pages visited, and time spent on pages. This is standard server-log data.
- Cookies and similar technologies — See our Cookie Policy for details. Cookies are used for site preferences (theme, language) and aggregated analytics; we do not use cookies for cross-site tracking advertising.
How we use this information
We use the information we collect to operate and improve the site (understanding which articles are most useful), to respond to your questions and feedback, to detect and prevent abuse (spam, security attacks), and to comply with legal obligations. We do not sell personal information to third parties.
Sharing with third parties
We share limited information with the following service providers, each of which has its own privacy practices:
- Hosting provider (Vercel, Cloudflare) — Server logs, IP addresses, request data.
- Analytics (Plausible Analytics) — Aggregated, cookieless page-view data without personal identifiers.
- Cloudflare — Security and DDoS protection (IP-level data, briefly stored).
- Email provider (when we send a newsletter) — Email addresses you provided to subscribe.
We do not share user data with advertising networks, data brokers, or affiliate program operators beyond aggregated, non-identifiable metrics.
Affiliate links
Some pages contain affiliate links to crypto exchanges, wallets, and DeFi protocols. When you click these links, the affiliate program operator may receive information about the click (referring URL, sometimes a click ID for attribution). We disclose affiliate links at the point of click. The affiliate program operator's privacy practices apply once you click through; we recommend reviewing the privacy policies of any service you sign up for.
Your rights (GDPR, CCPA, and similar)
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete your information. EU residents have rights under GDPR. California residents have rights under CCPA. To exercise any of these rights, email [email protected] from the email address associated with your data. We respond to verifiable requests within 30 days.
Data retention
Server logs are retained for 90 days. Email addresses are retained for as long as you remain subscribed and for 30 days after unsubscription. Aggregated analytics are retained indefinitely (without personal identifiers). Feedback messages are retained for one year unless we determine the message requires longer retention (e.g., for ongoing legal matter).
International transfers
Crypto Compass News is operated globally with infrastructure in the US and EU. Personal information may be transferred to and processed in countries other than the one you live in. Where required, we use standard contractual clauses or other legal mechanisms to safeguard cross-border transfers.
Security
We use industry-standard security measures (HTTPS, encrypted storage, access controls) to protect the information we collect. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to ensure your information is well-protected against unauthorized access. If we ever experience a breach affecting personal information, we will notify affected users in accordance with applicable laws.
Children
Crypto Compass News is not directed to children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided information to us, contact us and we will delete it.
Contact
For privacy questions, email [email protected] or use our contact form. We respond to verifiable privacy requests within 30 days.
