US and EU users who prioritise a spotless security record — no major hack since 2011 — and want a serious pro-grade trading terminal.
Institutions and funds requiring an SEC-registered venue with segregated qualified custody and audited on-chain reserves.
Active spot traders chasing the deepest global liquidity and the widest listing catalogue outside the US perimeter.
Traders who mix spot and on-chain — the Web3 wallet, DEX aggregator and Ethereum L2 X Layer sit inside the same account as CEX pairs.
Long-horizon EU holders who want the oldest continuously-operating exchange (2011) with conservative listings and full MiCA licensing.
Derivatives-first traders who want tighter perp funding and a maker-friendly fee schedule; accept offshore regulatory footprint.

Decentraland is a browser-based 3D virtual world that runs on Ethereum and is owned by the people who use it. Ari Meilich and Esteban Ordano started the project in 2015, raised about $24 million in an August 2017 ICO, and shipped the public mainnet in February 2020. Land parcels are NFTs, the in-world currency is MANA, and rule changes go through an on-chain DAO rather than a company. It is one of the older metaverse projects still standing, and its native token started life as an ERC-20 on Ethereum.
The pitch is straightforward. In every other virtual world, the platform owns the items, the land, and the rules. In Decentraland, holders own them. That ownership story is what got the project on stage with Samsung, Coca-Cola, Adidas, and JPMorgan during the 2021-2022 metaverse cycle. Whether the day-to-day product has lived up to that pitch is a separate question, and one we get into below. For a comparable gaming-and-metaverse token, see Gala Games.
MANA’s price comes from supply and demand on spot exchanges. The most active pairs are MANA/USDT, MANA/USD, and MANA/BTC. Live data on this page pulls from a multi-venue market feed and refreshes every 60 seconds. The reference quote is volume-weighted across the venues with the deepest order books. The all-time high near $5.85 came in November 2021, when the metaverse narrative was at peak hype.
What tends to move MANA on any given day:
The numbers in the price card above are live. The analysis below uses the levels at page load.
Decentraland runs on three primitives that are easy to confuse from the outside. MANA is the fungible currency. LAND is non-fungible real estate. Estates are bundles of adjacent LAND held under a single token. Knowing how they fit together makes the rest of the project make sense.
The honest read: the Genesis City map is small enough that scarcity is real, but most parcels see almost no foot traffic on a normal day. Land near a popular plaza, a brand activation, or a recurring event is genuinely valuable. The middle of an empty district is closer to a digital lot in a town nobody visits.
Decentraland 2.0 launched in November 2024 and was the most consequential ship for the project since mainnet. The original client was widely criticised for clunky controls, long load times, and a generally low-fidelity feel that struggled to compete with Roblox, Fortnite Creative, or even other Web3 worlds. The 2.0 release was a full rewrite.
What 2.0 cannot fix on its own is the chicken-and-egg problem. A better client only matters if creators ship better experiences, and creators only ship if there are users to play them. The relaunch bought the project time and goodwill. Whether daily actives follow is the real test, and that data is still being written.
The Decentraland DAO controls platform fees, content moderation, parcel-related rules, and a treasury that has been worth billions at past market peaks. Voting weight comes from MANA, LAND, Estate, and wrapped MANA, with different multipliers per asset. Anyone who holds the relevant tokens can submit a proposal or vote.
For MANA holders the DAO is a double-edged thing. It is a real check on the founding team, which is rare and valuable. It also means contentious decisions move slowly, and the treasury pays for things the median holder might not have prioritised. Both are part of the deal.
Decentraland and The Sandbox get compared more than any other pair in this category, and for good reason. Both are Ethereum-rooted virtual worlds with NFT land and a native token. The differences matter when you decide how much of either to hold.
Both projects are surviving a bear market and shipping product. MANA vs SAND is less "which one is better" than "which thesis you want to bet on": Decentraland’s DAO-first, single-map approach, or Sandbox’s creator-tool, brand-district approach.
MANA is one of the more widely listed metaverse tokens. The decision worth thinking about is whether you want price exposure only, or whether you want to actually hold MANA inside the platform to vote, buy wearables, mint names, or pay for in-world purchases.
MANA carries a risk profile that does not look much like a payments coin or a DeFi blue chip. The biggest items are narrative dependency and the gap between marketing reach and real on-chain activity. Volatility is real but it is not the most interesting thing to think about.
