EigenLayer's AVS marketplace went from concept to a few dozen live services in 2025–2026. Most have token incentives, varying utility, and uneven adoption. Five categories cover the meaningful ones.
1. Data availability: EigenDA
EigenDA is EigenLayer's native data availability service for rollups. It targets ~10 MB/s throughput vs Ethereum L1 blobs' ~1.3 MB/s. Multiple L2s and L3s (Mantle, Celo, Polygon zkEVM testnet) have integrated. EIGEN token rewards underlying restakers.
2. Bridge security: Hyperlane variants and Eclipse
Several AVS use restaked ETH to secure cross-chain messaging. Stronger trust assumptions than third-party multisig bridges. Adoption modest in 2026; long-term thesis is replacement of legacy bridge security models.
3. Coprocessing and ZK proofs: Lagrange
Lagrange provides ZK coprocessing for L2s and dApps — large queries computed off-chain and verified on-chain. Restakers secure the prover network. LA token launched 2024; adoption tied to ZK demand growth.
4. Oracle and timestamp services: Witness Chain, Eoracle
Restaked oracle networks designed to compete with Chainlink. Cheaper, faster, but smaller adoption footprint so far. WIT and EO tokens reward operators and restakers.
5. Sequencer and MEV markets: Aligned, Espresso
Decentralised sequencer services for L2s. Long-running R&D, with production launches gradually arriving in 2026. Token economics tied to L2 adoption.
What restakers actually earn
- Most AVS pay in their own token — value depends on protocol revenue and tokenomics.
- EigenDA, with high throughput and real customers, generates more realised yield than smaller AVS.
- AVS tokens are usually heavily inflationary in year 1; long-term value capture varies sharply.
How to pick AVS exposure
- Prefer AVS with real, paying customers (EigenDA leads).
- Read the token supply schedule and emissions to restakers.
- Check operator quality — slashing risk is per-operator, per-AVS.
- Diversify across multiple AVS via LRTs rather than concentrating exposure.
