Standard Solana NFTs cost ~0.01 SOL ($1.50) to mint. Compressed NFTs use Merkle trees to batch metadata, dropping per-mint cost to fractions of a cent. The trade-off is that cNFTs require indexer support to display — most major wallets and marketplaces handle them transparently in 2026. Used heavily for gaming items, identity credentials, and high-volume drops.
Magic Eden vs Tensor
Magic Eden has the broadest collector base, cross-chain support (Solana, Bitcoin Ordinals, Polygon, Ethereum), and the cleanest UX for casual collectors. Tensor dominates pro-trader volume on Solana with aggregated order books, sweep tools, and bid management. Many serious traders use both — Magic Eden for buying, Tensor for active trading.
